In this chapter we will talk about 8 ICF Core Competencies, shedding light on each competency's significance and practical application in the coaching sessions. Furthermore, we will embark on a journey to uncover the nuanced ways in which ACC, PCC, and MCC coaches demonstrate and embody these competencies in their coaching sessions.
In this chapter, I will delve into three key psychology topics that hold significant relevance for coaches in their practice. Understanding the intricate workings of the human mind is crucial for coaches to effectively guide and support their clients.
Topics explored in this chapter are as follows:
- Development stages of people
- Defense mechanisms
- Thinking mistakes
By delving into these psychology topics, coaches can enhance their understanding of human behavior, internal processes, concerns and emotions, ultimately enabling them to support their clients more effectively by hearing clients on deeper levels and asking questions that create meaningful impact in client's lives.
In this section I will demonstrate 4 coaching sessions with two clients and afterwards will share my insights on what I did well in these sessions and what could have been done better.
To get a certificate of completion, you will need to pass a multiple-choice test with 70% correct answers. You can retake test if you don't pass it with the first time.

My Story
I am Laura Kunstberga - PCC certified coach by International Coaching Federation (ICF) specialising in career coaching, leadership coaching and personal development coaching in local and global companies. My journey in coaching started in 2017 when I decided to change my career and committed to make an impact in other people's lives as a profession coach. In 2020 I discovered that I feel passioned about promoting high standards of coaching and joined ICF Latvia Chapter board with primary focus to educate society and companies what a professional coaching is. And during that time I was already sharing my insights as a coach mentor with other coaches who just started their journey. Having walked that path of growing as a professional coach, I know that beginning can be rough, and I am willing to share my experience that can make your journey as a coach smoother.
